Proposed hull design achieved superior hydro-dynamics than original proof-of-concept
SCOPE
Ocean Lab’s mission is to lead the Swarm Robotics industry. As a way of diversifying and developing new sources of growth, they asked Pull to help design a consumer version based on their “Data Diver” semi-submersible ROV.
Working closely with the in-house engineering team, Pull’s approach to the design was to incorporate strong marine and naval cues.
The resulting prototype out-performed the original architecture and was a foundation for Ocean Labs‘ forthcoming consumer venture.
System Overview
Reefscout can surveil the underwater environment while transmitting a live to the operator. Reefscout is piloted using a dedicated controller with smartphone integration for unencumbered viewing and geo-located recording.
Operation
The operator controls the camera by maneuvering Reefscout laterally in forward motion, vertically by plunging up and down, and radially by rotating about its vertical axis.
