The Axiom MKII was the follow-up to the original line of Axiom MIDI keyboard controllers created by M-Audio. The design of Axiom’s successor began as the device’s chipset was approaching its end of life. The re-design provided an opportunity to improve several attributes of the original Axiom, particularly the ergonomics of the the keybed and increased continuity between the device and complementary software (e.g DAWs).

Due to the strong legacy of the original Axiom line, the design took an evolutionary path that aimed to create a more precise look and feel. The resulting design identity was implemented across the device range of 25 keys, 49 keys and 61 keys.
